Insomma nella di ieri 2 Novembre 2010, Google Analytics ha smesso di registrare i dati delle visite, qualcuno parla di bug interni, altri di attacchi da parte di Hacker cinesi, fatto sta che i blogger di tutto il mondo si chiedono cosa sia accaduto alla grande G. Aggiornamento: Problema risolto, Google Analytics è tornato a funzionare e i dati di giorno 02 Novembre 2010 sono tornati disponibili. Il peggio è passato.

Un ragazzo di 27 anni è stato accusato di pirateria informatica e della trasmissione di più di 10 milioni di minuti di servizio telefonico Internet è stato condannato a 10 anni.E’ un ragazzo di 27 anni la prima persona al mondo ad essere accusata di hacking Voice over Internet Protocol [VoIP], dopo aver rubato la fornitura voip, ha rivenduto il tutto guadagnando ben 10 anni di carcere.

La condanna di Edwin Andres Pena, 27 anni, in tribunale federale di Newark, NJ, è arrivata dopo un pedinamento durato tre anni. Pena fuggito dopo il suo arresto nel 2006, è stato estradato negli Stati Uniti dal Messico, nel febbraio del 2009, hanno detto le autorità. Il 3 febbraio 2010, si è dichiarato colpevole di pirateria informatica.

“Il furto è un furto che si tratti di rapinare una banca o di entrare in una rete e rubare i loro servizi”, ha detto il procuratore Paul Fishman in una dichiarazione.”Gli hacker attaccano le nuove tecnologie emergenti e dovrebbero presumere che l’applicazione della legge può tenere il passo con loro, anche quando operano da altri paesi.”

Pena ha architettato un sistema per frodare i fornitori di servizi VoIP fingendosi grossista legittimo di servizi telefonici basati su Internet e sulla vendita di piani di servizio scontati. Secondo le autorità, la ragione per cui riusciva a fare prezzi così bassi era perchè segretamente era riuscito ad hackerare le reti informatiche dei fornitori di VoIP e di instradare le chiamate dei suoi clienti ‘.

Attraverso questo schema, Pena ha venduto oltre 10 milioni di minuti di servizio telefonico Internet ai suoi clienti ignari, provocando una perdita di oltre 1,4 milioni dollari in meno di un anno. Tra le sue vittime ci fu una società di Newark-based che trasmette servizi VoIP per le imprese di telecomunicazioni e sono state fatturate più di 500.000 chiamate telefoniche non autorizzate.

Pena aiutato anche da altri, tra cui Robert Moore di Spokane, nello stato di Washington Moore è stato condannato a 24 mesi per il suo ruolo nello schema, in cui ha eseguito la scansione di reti di computer per trovare le porte vulnerabili così le reti sono state usate per instradare le chiamate, hanno detto le autorità.

Oltre al carcere, Pena è stato anche condannato a tre anni di libertà vigilata e gli è stato ordinato di essere deportato in seguito alla conclusione della sua condanna in quanto cittadino venezuelano. Pena è stato anche condannato a pagare un risarcimento per un importo di 1.012,311 mila dollari.

I watched this week’s announcement of the new Windows Phone 7 Series over the web. It was in Barcelona, and I was stuck here at home digging out from under a mountain of work that piled up after a pleasant vacation. Still, even over the Internet, it was an impressive demo, and the post-announce buzz was uniformly positive. (ZDNet’s coverage includes excellent posts from my compadres Mary Jo Foley, Matthew Miller, and Joel Evans, analysis by Larry Dignan, and a slick image gallery.) After looking at the announcement and thinking over its ramifications, I’ve come up with seven big questions that stand out in my mind.

Is this a complete reset of the Windows Mobile line? And can Microsoft pull it off?

This is a new operating system, a new user interface, and a new set of requirements on hardware makers. What’s left? All in all, this is indeed a complete reset and a pretty spectacular admission that the old Windows Mobile line was years past its sell-by date.

It does invite shuddering comparisons to the XP-to-Vista transition, doesn’t it?

Fortunately, this isn’t as big a leap as it appears. The hardware, the OS, and the new UI have already had a pretty thorough shakedown in the evolution of the Zune hardware, which culminated in the ZuneHD, which is impressive technically even if it hasn’t been a hit sales-wise. For Zune-watchers who wondered why Microsoft was persisting in its seemingly quixotic competition with the iPod juggernaut, you now have your answer: The ZuneHD wasn’t a mere media player, it was a stealth, hidden-in-plain-sight workout of a new hardware platform. Based on the ZuneHD experience, we already know what the UI and hardware can do at a minimum, and there are some pretty impressive new technologies in the Windows Phone 7.

Offering a range of exciting features, within days of its launch, Apple iPad has become the latest hot buzz among the tech savvy generation. Though many people refer to it as the updated version of apple iPhone, iPad is the mix of iPhone, iTouch and a full notebook or laptop. Mail

In landscape, you get a split-screen view showing both an opened email and the messages in your inbox. To see the opened e-mail only, turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and takes the full screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, onscreen keyboard, or delete messages with nothing more than a tap and a flick.

A photo can be seen right in the message. You can also save the photos in an e-mail directly to the built in Photos application. And iPad works with all the most popular email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.

Photos

With its unique software features, iPad has many ways to share your photos. The Photos application displays the photos in an album. You just have to tap the album and the whole album opens for you. From there, you can flip through your pictures, zoom in or out or see them in a slide show.

While charging, you can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame too!

Video and YouTube

The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video. You can enjoy anything from HD movies and TV shows to podcasts and music videos.

The YouTube application organizes videos so they’re easy to see and navigate. When you’re watching in landscape, the video automatically plays in full screen.

iPod

Digieffects launches Atmosphere plugin for After Effects

Digieffects has launched Atmosphere, a new After Effects plug-in for simulating atmospheric conditions. The plug-in is capable of generating haze and fog effects within videos, while several configuration options allow users to adjust the effects depending on lighting and distance to the camera. Layers that are further away from the camera show a heavier haze/fog effect than the layers that are closer to the camera. This effect is also applied to parts of layers, resulting in greater immersion depending on which areas of the layer are closer to the camera.

Atmosphere is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and priced at $50. It also comes bundled with Trapcode Lux for $220, or in the company’s Megasuite that includes all of the Digieffect’s plugins (except for FreeForm AE) and is priced at $800.

As usual, the Academy chose just three films as visual-effects nominees. That number seems smaller this year, given that it’s the first time that 10 movies were singled out as the potential best film of the year.

Still, to those who follow visual effects, there’s probably little shock this morning in the fact that the three nominated films were: “Avatar,” James Cameron’s record-breaking anti-colonialism epic; “Star Trek,” the latest, and some would say the best, in the long history of movies of the Gene Roddenberry franchise; and “District 9,” from director Neill Blomkamp.

Perhaps the only real surprise was that “2012,” Roland Emmerich’s fantasy about an apocalypse long foreseen on the Mayan calendar, wasn’t nominated. But in a year with several very strong candidates, it was clear that not every one of them would earn a nomination.

Also gracing the nominations was a CNET favorite, Pixar’s “Up,” for best animated feature. That film, Pixar’s 10th straight big hit, was joined by several other strong contenders: “Coraline,” Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “The Princess and the Frog,” and “The Secret of Kells.”

From this corner, “Avatar” looks to be as big of a sure thing to win the visual-effects Oscar as I can remember. It’s not that the work ILM did on “Star Trek” or that Image Engine did on “District 9″ wasn’t great. It’s more that “Avatar” has taken the world by storm, breaking the all-time box office record–previously held, of course, by Cameron’s own “Titanic”–and pretty much blowing everyone away with the creation of the fantastical moon of Pandora. I will be completely surprised if “Avatar” doesn’t walk away with the Oscar on March 7.

As I’ve written previously, if “Avatar” wins the Oscar, it could be the big public coming out party for Weta Digital, director Peter Jackson’s visual-effects studio. Within the industry, to be quite sure, Weta is well-known for its work on Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and on his “King Kong,” but my argument is that the company is not well-known by the public for its projects, which have already earned it four Oscars.

Either way, with nine nominations, including for best picture, best director, art direction, and cinematography, March 7 looks to be a big night for Cameron and the countless people who made “Avatar.” After all, while 2009 was a pretty good year for movies, Hollywood loves a smash, especially one that makes people look at things in an entirely new way. And for that, visual effects may well be the true star of Oscar night 2010.
